These improv curves really are easy and only take 10 min to make. Unit size is 3.
The full video tutorial can be found as always on Shelly Sutton's YouTube channel.
You will need three 10" squares of solid, with a light, medium, and dark. No black or white this month. If you struggle to figure your values, you can take a photo with your phone and edit it to be black and white. The results will show you the amount of contrast between the three.
Without a ruler or template, you just make two curved cuts, making sure your center strip is at least 1" big for seam allowance.
Start by sewing them together leaving about half an inch gap on the end of the smaller (inside) part. These will be trimmed later.
After sewing these together, give them a press. you can trim the outer edge first to square it up, then cut the excess off to make 8.5" trimmed blocks.
The purpose of this Round Robin is to get to know the people in your small group through quilting. At the end or the Round Robin you will have 4 new quilty friends and a wonderful quilt as a memento.
What you need to participate:
This will start in February. Each month your bag gets passed to a person in your group. That person will take your quilt top home and increase the size by 12inches length and width. You are not expected to re-invent the wheel on this project. We want you to get your creativity going by adding simple borders on each round of sewing. This is a commitment to participate. You do not want to let anyone in your group down. And the big reveal in July will be more fun than the law should allow.
Swap schedule:
Other things to keep in mind:
Make the work you would like to receive.
Trim your threads and bunny ears.
Don’t redo work done before your round.
